The second annual All That Matters To Me Art Show is gearing up for the largest and most unexpected exhibition in Northeast Ohio. Housed in the Lake Erie Templar Auto Building, in Lakewood Ohio, this unique show was created to provide artists and visitors with an unconventional art-making experience. Comprised of work from over 40 artist working in a variety of media, the show will test the limits of what art can be outside of the typical gallery or museum setting. Taking advantage of the vast industrial space that contains 30 artist studios year around, the participating artists are free to create exciting never before seen work. With over 800 attendees last year, be sure to join in for this one night of undefinable art. Admission to the show is free and will open to the public at 7 pm.

NINTH ANNUAL TASTE OF LAKEWOOD TO BE HOSTED BY THE LAKEWOOD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

Lakewood, OH – May 2012 The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that the ninth annual Taste of Lakewood will be held on Sunday, June 3rd, 2012.  This gala event, highlighting many of Lakewood’s outstanding restaurants and food purveyors, will be held from 4:00–7:00 p.m. at the Lake Erie Building, Templar Industrial Park (commonly known as The Screw Factory), 13000 Athens Avenue in Lakewood.

The Taste of Lakewood has grown over the past eight years to become a regionally-recognized “Don’t Miss” food event. The new venue provides an opportunity to increase the number of participating restaurants and to partner with the Screw Factory Artists, who will have their studios open during the event. Sample delicious food, enter to win fabulous themed raffle baskets, visit open artists’ studios and the Templar Motors Car Display - be a part of the 9th Annual Taste of Lakewood that will showcase 28 of Lakewood’s award-winning food destinations!

A portion of the proceeds from this event benefits the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce’s scholarship fund, established to reward and assist college-bound high school seniors from St. Edward and Lakewood High Schools.

Tickets are $30.00 and are available at the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce (16017 Detroit Avenue) and Nature’s Bin (18120 Sloane Avenue) in Lakewood, and also online at www.tasteoflakewood.com. Free parking will be available at the east parking lot of the Lake Erie Building (corner of Halstead and Athens Avenues) and the municipal parking lot across the street. Location: Studio C328, The Lake Erie Building, 13000 Athens Ave, Lakewood, OH. This two-day workshop will allow students to create 2-5 pieces using clay slabs, molds and free forms. Its a great start for clay novices and perfect for experienced clay artists to perfect their skills.

This course offers opportunities to work in warm glass fusing, a medium that has the beauty, color and sparkle of glass and the versatility of painting with light and color. This class is designed for the beginning to intermediate student. We will work with a wide range of approaches and techniques.  You will work as a painter using colored frit on a glass canvas, create a bowl, plate or trivet using decorative and imaginative colorful designs, design and make a glass pendant in Dichroic glass, and explore the fascinating concept of the mask as developed in various cultures around the world. You will work with the glass saw, grinder, and various hand tools. We will focus on projects and techniques that will enable the artist to develop unique and highly personal approaches to creative expression with glass frits, stringers, and sheets cut by hand and with the glass saw.

This course provides the knowledge, skills, and experience to teach art instructors warm glass fusing techniques and projects which can be utilized in the art classroom across all grade levels. You will complete a series of five glass fusing projects designed for classroom implementation. The history of art glass will be covered. You will create a lesson plan, develop a grading rubric, and learn how to find financial support for projects through the introduction to grant writing.
